This Saturday, August 5th, we'll be working to install a new compost area here at the Discovery Center. This project is being led by Su Ly, an Alliance for Watershed Education Fellow. Here's a few words from Su about his fellowship and project:
My name is Su Ly and I am the Alliance for Watershed Education Fellow here at the Discovery Center. The Alliance for Watershed Education is an initiative to educate and engage folks about the Delaware River Watershed. Part of the fellowship is to develop a capstone project that is educational, actionable, and community engaged. This year, my capstone project is to create a 3-bin compost system for the Discovery Center in pursuit of repurposing our organic material and creating a second use for our invasive plants. Prior to the inception of this system, we were bagging up organic materials and invasive plants to be moved off site, which was costly. This project will help us repurpose our organic material on-site and create a second use for the finished product.
We'd love to have your help, so if you're interested in helping out our conservation efforts at The Discovery Center, Sign Up Here! We'll be working from 10am until 2pm, so please come for as long as you'd like. We hope to see you there!
