UPDATE: Due to the extreme heat conditions, we are limiting canoe times to only morning time slots.
Over 130 species of birds have visited the Strawberry Mansion reservoir since it was decommissioned. Now that nature has taken over the space, we’ll be going out in the canoes to find out exactly what draws them to this special place. We will be fitting everyone with paddles, Personal Floatation Device(PFD), and binoculars. Join us for the search for flora and fauna that call the reservoir home. No canoeing experience or bird/ plant knowledge required! Participants will learn tips and proper canoe technique from our Outward Bound Instructors.
Canoeing is first come, first served and registration begins at 10am. For those that want to stay on land, Audubon staff will also be on land to share information about the reservoir.
Updated canoe times are:
10:15am & 11:15am and sessions last 45 minutes. Bring your friends and family to fit 2-3 participants per canoe. Individuals coming by themselves may be paired with a partner. All participants must wear their personal flotation device (safety jacket) while in the water. Paddles, canoes, and safety jackets will be provided. Canoers must be 8 and up and those under 12 must have a responsible adult in the canoe with them. All participants must sign a waiver or have a responsible adult sign one on their behalf.
