Stargazing

Join Damien Ruffner and The Discovery Center as we focus our eyes to the skies not for birds, but for shooting stars! The Perseids are a prolific meteor shower associated with the comet Swift–Tuttle. The meteors are called the Perseids because the point from which they appear to hail (called the radiant) lies in the constellation Perseus. During its peak from August 11-13, stargazers can see up to 50 shooting stars an hour.

But what is a shooting star? What is stargazing? Do I need expensive equipment? Come learn the basics of stargazing in an introduction that is suitable for all ages and experience levels!

BYOT (Bring Your Own Telescope) if you are able, we will have one set for visitor viewing.

Snacks will be provided.
